[I am following Anne Brooke‘s 2021 #52tagshannemade slow stitch challenge to make a little tag every week of the year – see them all here!] Being another week divisible by four, Anne had us work two different techniques on a spider wheel: a woven rose and a wrapped wheel.
I wanted something vibrant after the last week, so I chose a batik in shades of purple and blue. I used a tiny paper doily to show off one of the wheels, and I used colonial knots and little looped stitches for accent.
The hardest part about this job is the demand to be on a day schedule. Post high school, I have never ever had to deal with a day schedule five days in a row. My clock doesn’t work that way naturally and I have had the ability to take positions either later in the day or varied throughout the week. I am allowed to choose my own shift, so I played with different times this week. I think I found a great schedule that works and takes into consideration winter’s darker days. Even traffic seems better!
I get there in under an hour now, but it still takes me just over an hour to return home. I hear even if I were to live in the city, I am really only adding 10-20 minutes to my commute. I’d rather live here, thanks.
