Egyptian Pattern Darning

Monday, November 16, 2020

You might recall that through my guild, I picked up a pamphlet by Lin Vandenberg that details how to make a bookmark based on a historical Egyptian pattern darning design.

It took me quite a while to complete it (see here), as I was unclear on the picot edging instructions, but I *finally* figured it out, phew! The back looks almost as nice as the front – only where I had to “tie off” the threads does it become less pretty, and that single place where i forgot which side of the pattern I was working, doh! There were no instructions on the fringe or what to do with the excess linen, but hopefully what I came up with won’t just unravel after a while (I don’t think it will).

It has since been claimed by Boy, of course.
