Ok, so a little abashedly, I see I haven’t had a TextileArtist.org‘s Stitch Club post for literally over two years, and that’s going to change today! Jo Morphett recently led a workshop through TextileArtist.org‘s Stitch Club on textured layers of color and stitch. I made a small wall hanging by backing it all with some felt.
I’d been feeling itchy about getting back into proper stitching, so this workshop seemed easy enough to break the seal. As the usual, I put my own spin on it – in this case, by not embroidering the petals of this “peony” and adding the fabric leaves.
The inspiration came from my new row of peonies that a friend gifted and planted for me late last fall. Something like twenty bushes are sprouting up, amazingly, and none of my nature friends have eaten them yet! (Unlike some free double tulips I got at work that my friend also planted; the bunnies got to the greens before I ever saw a flower…)
Incidentally, this did help me dig out another project I had set aside many moons ago. More about that tiny outcome next time!
