Another overdue post from last year: I wanted to make something special for my new niece but it took me a long while to land on what; I finally chose the Tilda’s World Cat Doll Kit. This was during some major reno (including the craft room move) and my supplies were nearly inaccessible, my space quite the opposite of tidy, and my headspace fairly vacant for crafting, but I pushed on to make it by her first birthday (which was recorded in my travel journal here).
I liked this pattern because I thought the porportions would be easier for a baby hand to hold on to, but it was large enough she could grow with it (should the cat be so lucky!). To make it more meaningful, I sourced fabrics that I had gotten from her late great grandmother and late great aunt. I made a little sleeping mat for it as well, though she’s too young to really play like that. And because of her age, I stuck with embroidery rather than buttons.
I added a small heart detail on her paws.
It appeared that she liked it, for the hot sec that she held it after opening it. What their relationship is today, I know not.
That rounds out all the missed posts from last year other than the nature journals. Stay tuned!
