A long while back, I came across a print transfer technique that used acrylic gel medium. I painted that on to a couple different images from magazines of various ink and paper types. Nothing turned out as I had imagined. I tossed most of that experiment, except I had saved this image of a quilted peacock. I always imagined doing some sort of mixed media stitched thing with it, and here it is.

Too bad I didn’t save the caption to tell you about the original artist. The quilt deserves that, no doubt. If any of you come across that maker, do let me know!

I just took some perle cotton and a few beads to embellish it. I like how the medium made the image matte, but the perle has a lovely sheen, and the beads add a touch of sparkle. This is all more so visible in real life, rather than a photo, so you’ll just have to trust me. I’m really drawn to stitching in paper, as you may recall from my earlier print experiments, the Ophelia print and the Camus+Mucha project. I have a couple more prints in my pile to dig back out as well.

And to keep the creative flow going, I started a project I can take on the train. (Oh, update: my commute shifted drastically at the beginning of April, so now I can take a train! I’m just now getting use to that process well enough to start thinking about portable stitching projects, yay!) I hope the mojo sticks with me!
