I have a wall calendar for my desk at work (what can I say, I am an analog girl trapped in a digital world). It seems a shame to throw them away, so one year I brought it home to use in mixed media art. But then a thought struck me – I could turn them into envelopes!
This one is already partially scavenged, but it gives you the idea – I cut the title section off, and chopped the decorative portion out. The month and year bit got tossed, and the daily grid is what forms the envelope. I carefully took apart a store-bought envelope to get the size and shape.
Then, it’s just a matter of cutting along the template and using a glue stick to make envelopes.
I tried to get creative with how to decorate using the floral bits. I decorated the back and the front (some would perhaps not work for mailing letters, but would be fine for handing out cards). Now I have a very nice stash of homemade envelopes. Huzzah!
